User Agreement
By using the Awhsi app or platform, you agree to the following terms and conditions Awhsi does not collect any personally identifiable information (such as your name, email, or phone number), and no account creation is required to use our services. We do, however, collect limited, anonymous analytics data — such as app usage patterns, device type, and crash reports — to help us understand how the app is used and to fix issues. This data cannot be used to identify you personally. By installing the Awhsi app, you agree that it will use storage space on your device, depending on the size of the hymnals you download. You also agree that the app will use your internet or Wi-Fi data — including in the background while downloading books, depending on your device settings. By installing Awhsi, you agree that supporting tools used to improve the app experience (such as analytics and crash-reporting packages provided by the app development framework) will be installed alongside the app. These are standard technical components and do not collect personal information beyond what is described above.
Data We Collect & Third-Party Services
To keep Awhsi transparent about how our platform works, here is what we use and why:
- Analytics: We use Firebase and Google Analytics (GA4) to understand app usage, such as which pages or hymnals are viewed most, and to detect crashes. This data is anonymous and not linked to your identity.
- Hosting: Our website is hosted on Vercel, and our database is hosted on Neon (PostgreSQL). These providers may process technical data (such as IP address and request logs) as part of standard web hosting operations.
- App distribution: Our app is distributed through Google Play and the Apple App Store, which have their own privacy practices and terms that apply when you download or update the app through their platforms.
- We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.
Terms & Conditions
As a platform run entirely by volunteers, with limited resources and no financial support from any organization at this time, we cannot guarantee that all services provided by Awhsi will remain available indefinitely.
- (1) Our website is currently hosted on Vercel's free tier, under the domain www.awhsi.com, registered through Namecheap. If traffic grows beyond what the free tier supports, our website may become temporarily unavailable until the usage limit resets. Vercel's terms and conditions may also change over time, which could affect our services, including the ability to download hymnals. However, any books you have already downloaded will remain on your device unless you delete them manually.
- (2) Awhsi uses Neon, a PostgreSQL database provider, to store all lyrics accessible through our app and website, under their free tier. Their policies may change over time. If usage grows significantly — for example, through many users searching or downloading songs via Search Online — we may temporarily exceed Neon's free-tier limits, which could block access until the usage limit resets each month. During this time, downloading new hymnals or using Search Online may be unavailable, but hymnals you've already downloaded will remain on your device until you uninstall the app or delete them manually from the Books section.
- (3) Our platform is published on Google Play and the Apple App Store, each with their own policies that may change over time. As a result, our app may occasionally be unavailable while we work to stay compliant with their requirements. These occasions are rare, and Awhsi is committed to following their policies closely.
- (4) All services provided by Awhsi are free of charge. You are welcome to share our platform on social media or use it freely during worship services at your church — this is exactly what Awhsi was founded for. We would greatly appreciate it if you credit Awhsi as your source.
- (5) Awhsi does not charge users any fees, and we do not intend to unless a significant policy change requires it in the future (which is unlikely). However, if you use our platform or its content for personal profit, or resell it to other users without permission, Awhsi reserves the right to pursue appropriate legal action, digitally or physically, alongside the original lyric or hymnal owners. If you become aware of any individual or organization misusing Awhsi's content for profit, please report it to us.
Children's Privacy
Awhsi is a general-audience platform intended for use by people of all ages, including within family or church settings. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and as noted above, no account creation or personal information is required to use our services.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy and Terms & Conditions from time to time, for example, as our platform grows or as our hosting and analytics providers update their own policies. Continued use of Awhsi after changes are posted means you accept the revised terms. We encourage you to review this page occasionally.
